CUPE 831 host the Children’s Annual Christmas Party
The Children’s Annual Christmas Party has been drawing in larger crowds as the years go by. The turnout this year was fantastic as approximately 150 children and 100 adults were in attendance to spend quality time with their families and bond with fellow brothers and sisters. President Fabio Gazzola and the executive team at CUPE Local 831 setup and organized the event and made sure everyone was having a good time.
Children were instantly captivated the moment they sat with their families as fun activities including build-a-bear, colouring books and crayons were given to each child. Children patiently waited as they lined up to meet with Santa and Mrs. Claus and were each given a wrapped gift from Mrs. Claus that was organized by the executive members. To bring some additional fun and excitement to the children’s party there was a special appearance by the “Brampton Batman” who gave children Batman stickers and posed for pictures. An interactive animal show featuring a cockatoo, rabbit, spider, snake, ferret and turtle was also greatly enjoyed. After the animal show, the kids got to visit with animals one-on-one and ask the animal handler questions.
As the festivities were drawing to an end, a raffle draw also took place where the “Brampton Batman” drew tickets and lucky children got to take home an additional gift. In between the festivities, there was plenty of food and beverages for everyone including popcorn, pizza, juice and coffee.
We want to thank the members who dropped off non-perishable food donations at the party that will be given to the Ste. Louise Outreach Centre of Peel. Additional toys from the party will also be donated. CUPE 831 has been donating to the Ste. Louise Outreach Centre of Peel for years and this year was no different.
The executive team want to thank everyone for attending and making this year another outstanding holiday event, and want to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season.
